Weight Watchers

My morning started out okay today. I joined my BFF for our weekly Weight Watchers date and, not surprisingly (and mostly because I’ve been stressed over my kitty Jack being sick and thus eating comfort foods), I didn’t lose any weight. But I didn’t gain any either, so YAY!

Greek yogurt with raspberries

After my meeting I headed straight to work and had my absolute FAVORITE breakfast ever: 0% Greek yogurt with raspberries. I don’t know why I love this so much, but I do!

The rest of the day was crazy busy and went by in a blur.

Cuban rice, chicken and broccoli

What did I do again? Oh yea, at some point I had lunch. It was a meal that I had frozen based on what my mom gave me as leftovers after Christmas. Crazy that it would last this long, right? But it was still delicious. I had Cuban rice and beans, some teriyaki chicken and broccoli that I added for greens. Simple and delicious.

The rest of my day went by just as quickly. I was super swamped at work because (eek!) this was my 2nd-to-last day and I was busy wrapping everything up so that I could have a relatively quiet Friday. I ended up staying until 7:30pm and was pretty starving by the time I got home.

Subway chicken teriyaki sandwich

Even though I have a couple more frozen meals that I could have warmed up, I decided to get a Subway sandwich on the way back to my apartment. What can I say? It’s that whole “never grocery shop when you’re hungry” mentality, except this time it was “never walk by a fast food restaurant when you’re exhausted and starving”. Oh well.

I got my favorite sandwich: 6-inch chicken teriyaki with Swiss cheese, tomatoes and pickles. I also asked them to add a thin line of light mayo, a thin line of honey mustard and a ton of sweet onion sauce. It sounds oddly specific, but this is the way I’ve been doing it since high school and there’s something comforting about having an old favorite after a long day.

I did also snack a bit throughout my day, on gum and some tofu miso soup. None of these were bad snacks, actually, but put together the gum really added up. I have a bad gum habit sometimes and can go through 3 packs in a day when I’m stressed out. And that’s what happened and really ended up adding up to my daily points. Oh well, here are my totals for today.
WW Points: 38 (it was the gum!)
Exercise: none, unless you count extra hours typing…

When you’re swamped at work, do you have old “stressed out” habits you lean on?

Greek yogurt and red grapefruitI joined my bff Danny at a Weight Watchers meeting this morning. Well, not so much joined as much as “badgered him into going in the mornings.” Going after work just  makes me feel bloated and I worry about how the things I ate earlier in the day will affect the numbers on the scale.

So, we went in the A.M. to great success: I’m down 3lbs post-Holidays and am now 137.0, which is a really nice number to see. Only 12 to go for where I would ideally like to be! Though maybe just 10 will be fine, too.

After WW, I headed straight to work and just had to get myself a Greek yogurt. Danny was eating some during the meeting and I got a serious craving.

But  not wanting to just have it on it’s own (and not finding any berries, which are my usual yogurt companion), I decided to get some red grapefruit.

Grapefruit is one of the few things that I could probably eat every day, along with tomatoes. But since it tends to get expensive and I’m sure that would be way too much acid, I only keep it to special occasions. I probably hadn’t had it in months at this point and it was really nice to get some today.

pink lentil and bean soup

The day breezed by pretty quickly, until it was time to meet my friend Dolores for lunch. I brought mine and it was just as comforting and delicious as when I made it last week. The slow cooker pink lentil & bean soup was just the perfect lunch on this extremely gross and rainy day in New York.

After lunch, I actually got quite peckish.

I ended up going downstairs to a little cafe and buying one of my all-time favorite snacks, Stacy’s Naked Pita Chips. They were absolutely delicious… and a good way to tide me over until dinner.

fluffy quinoa and baked shark

After work, my friend Haena and I met up to head to my place together. We have decided to start doing weekly cooking dates and this was our very first one. The only downside is that, by the time we got home, did all of the prep work and the cooking, it was almost 10 p.m. by the time we ate.

I usually hate eating that late, but our meal was so delicious that I didn’t mind. Plus, we had a Skinny Girl margarita while cooking, which definitely tied me over.

And doesn’t the food look great? We made a healthier version of my dad’s fried shark and some fluffy quinoa with mustard greens (sort of a combination of my warm lemony mustard greens salad and mushroom & pearl onion quinoa recipes). I can’t wait to share the recipes! In the  meantime… Here are my totals:
WW Points: 37 (snacking added up a bit)
Exercise: none, unfortunately

When It Gets Difficult to Track

Life can easily throw a wrench in your plans sometimes. That’s what has been happening with my daily tracking lately. Although I went to a Weight Watchers meeting right before New Year’s and kept going last week, I have found it really hard to track since the New Year. I don’t know what happened: it’s [...]

Food Through the Instagram App & a Successful Weigh-In

I had a really, really fantastic morning today. Well, I woke up a little later than I wanted to and had to quickly rush off to my Weight Watchers meeting. The great news, though, was that I actually lost weight this week! That’s right: I weighed in this morning at 137.2 pounds. Hooray! I think [...]

Why Track Calories and Fitness Every Single Day

With the Holidays coming up (and Thanksgiving out of the way already), my mind is back on my weight loss maintenance. Last year, after getting to my lowest-ever weight of 120, I settled around 130lbs and was pretty happy with that. However, I’ve continued going to Weight Watchers because I still dream of getting back [...]

I’m Finally Back at Weight Watchers (and this is what I weight…)

September 22, 2011

It’s almost scary looking at this chart from my Weight Watchers tracker. It says I’ve lost 94.8lbs since I originally joined back in January of 2005. I never got rid of my account and it’s fascinating to look at the history of my weight loss. The other scary thing to admit is that I’m at [...]

Healthiest Summer Ever, Ep. 20: E-mail Friend Support

August 18, 2011

Whether you’re losing weight or keeping weight off (like I am!), one thing that I’ve found is always written about and that I have finally experienced for myself as a great motivator: getting support from friends. And since we’re all busy people, I discovered that there are different ways to express that support.

Healthiest Summer Ever, Ep 4: Weight Watchers Tracking

June 8, 2011

After rejoining Weight Watchers in February 2011, I have effectively stopped tracking my points in April (with very little tracking around my Birthday in March). Since then, I have gained a bit of weight. But since starting my Healthiest Summer Ever challenge, I have re-dedicated myself to tracking. See how it’s been going this past [...]

My New Challenge: Healthiest Summer Ever! Episode 1

May 30, 2011

I’ve been struggling with some parts of eating healthier lately. Although I had decided to give up soda and Gushers for my Birthday, I haven’t actually kept up with this promise. I also haven’t been going to the gym at all. In fact, I had put my gym membership on hold because of my 5th [...]

Back at Weight Watchers After Birthday Weekend

March 23, 2011

Since I decided to spend my Birthday weekend not worrying and pretty much stopped tracking my food intake for the week, it’s no surprise that when I went back to Weight Watchers today I had gained 1.8lbs. And there’s your proof: After starting at 135lbs at the beginning of February, I lost 4lbs and then [...]
